India and the United States are working on an interim trade agreement. Both sides have made a lot of progress, but some issues still need to be finalised.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the deal is almost ready. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters that both countries have done a lot of work.
He added that a few points must be resolved before the agreement can be signed. Both sides are focused on completing these points.
The statement came during a media briefing where Jaiswal answered questions about the trade talks.
In June, a delegation from the U.S. Trade Representative visited India. The visit was aimed at moving the discussions forward.
The U.S. delegation met with Indian officials to discuss the trade agreement and to address any remaining concerns.
Both governments are now working to close the remaining gaps. The goal is to finalise the interim bilateral trade agreement soon.
Once signed, the agreement will strengthen trade ties and open new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
