Agastya Green Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of the Anubhav Agarwal Group, announced on Saturday that it will expand its operations by adding a 12 GW integrated ingot and wafer manufacturing plant at the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to cost around Rs 7,800 crore.
The new facility will complement Agastya’s existing solar cell and module manufacturing lines. By combining ingot, wafer, cell and module production in one plant, the company aims to increase domestic value addition and improve manufacturing efficiency.
The company held a bhumi pooja, or ground‑breaking ceremony, to mark the start of this next phase of growth. The project is projected to generate more than 3,500 employment opportunities in the region.
Anubhav Agarwal, Chairman of the Anubhav Agarwal Group, said the investment reflects a long‑term conviction in India’s energy transition. He added that the company is committed to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities at scale.
With 12 GW of integrated ingot and wafer capacity, Agastya Green Energy will strengthen its domestic manufacturing footprint. The move is expected to support the broader solar manufacturing sector in India.
The integrated plant will bring together upstream and downstream segments of the photovoltaic value chain, allowing for deeper integration and greater efficiency.
The expansion is part of the company’s strategy to meet rising domestic demand for solar components and to reduce dependence on imports.
By boosting local production, Agastya Green Energy hopes to contribute to India’s renewable energy targets while creating jobs and fostering technological expertise in the region.
